Herd Share Agreement with Austin Gordon Farm

Austin Gordon Farm (AGF) sells a 1 year/ 1 week share(s) of the herd for $50 /  $2 per share and enters into a “boarding” agreement with the Share Owner:

Share of the Herd

Each share is roughly equal to 1/25 of the cow, but ownership is a fraction of the actual herd.

Boarding Agreement

Share Owner agrees to pay a 1 year/ 1 week “boarding” fee of $50/ $2 per share. This covers the cost of feed, fencing, pasture maintenance, veterinary care, husbandry, milking, milk handling, and any other expenses incurred in the maintenance of the AGF herd.

Share Owner is entitled to their full share of the milk and / or other products produced by the herd (cream, yoghurt, kefir, butter). A one year/ A one week share is roughly equal to 1 gallon/ 1 quart of milk per week but may rarely be less due to unforeseen events.

Share Owner is responsible for picking up their own milk and / or other products from the farm located on Duke Rd. in Humboldt at the share holders designated day/time each week.

In boarding the herd, AGF agrees to manage the herd for optimal health, safety, and production of the cows, with quality of milk and sustainability of the herd being the primary goals.

AGF reserves the right to make dietary and medical decisions for the entire herd.

AGF reserves the right to change the boarding fee but must give a 90 day notice before increasing cost. Austin Gordon Farm will reassume ownership of shares upon expiration of the herd share agreement.

Sale of Raw Milk

Share Owner and Austin Gordon Farm understand that the sale of raw milk for human consumption by Tennessee Law is forbidden and agree that no raw milk will be sold by either party for human consumption.

Share Owner understands that consuming raw milk is not recommended by the Center for Disease Control, the Food and Drug Administration, or the Tennessee Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Share Owner agrees that their share of raw milk produced by the Austin Gordon Farm herd is for their own use only.

Share Owner voluntarily assumes risks associated with consuming raw milk and assumes liability for any harm caused to anyone by drinking or handling raw milk that is in or has been in Share Owner's possession.

Share Owner understands that entering farm property contains inherent risks to self and assumes responsibility for any harm to self incurred on farm property.

Share Owner is held responsible for any willful or accidental damage to cows or farm property that they may cause by entering farm property. Please stay back from all electrified fencing.

Don’t go into pastures or the barn unless invited. Don’t try and pet the guardian dogs. Don't leave the fridge door open. Just be courteous!

By signing this agreement, Share Owner releases Austin Gordon Farm, its agents, and farm landowners from any liability for any harm or loss caused by handling or consuming milk from the Austin Gordon Farm or from entering the farm property.

By signing, we agree to the terms of this agreement and begin boarding services and fees immediately.
